A new Children's Hospital and Adults Head and Neck Centre

It has, yet again been a pleasure to work with both Carillion and the John Radcliffe Hospital”    Richard Fox, South West Sales Manager, Mailbox

Project - John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford
Scope - A new Children's Hospital and Adults Head and Neck Centre.

The scheme, procured under the Government PFI process was awarded to Carillion Construction Ltd (main contractor) in December 2002 and with handover to the Trust in January 2007 is fully operational to both inpatients and outpatients.
Carillion Services Ltd, trading as Carillion Health is also the lead provider for the majority of the services within the new facilities.

The New Children’s Hospital will condense the existing services within Oxford into one purpose built Children’s Hospital, providing a comprehensive range of paediatric services. Existing services have relocated from The Radcliffe Infirmary, Churchill and the Main John Radcliffe Hospitals.

The Adults Head and Neck Centre (West wing) include Neurosciences, specialist surgery (plastic & craniofacial), ENT and the Oxford Eye Hospital

These two modern buildings together with state-of-the-art equipment and a further 265 beds will benefit all patients who are in need of the facilities.

Mailbox is proud to have played a part in the supply and installation of HTM71 high density materials management systems within the new buildings and Departments.

Working with Carillion on a sub-contract basis, over 40 areas were designed and installed to agreed timescales and specifications, including base, wall and full height cabinets (incorporating our Polycarbonate trays and dividers), worktops (both laminate and solid surface), endoscope and catheter cabinets and all associated equipment. From Theatres through to store rooms, Mailbox believe that they have once again proven their ability to project manage the supply and installation of their Medstor HTM71 Materials Management System.   Darren Hamilton, Mailbox’s Installation Manager said  “Whilst we strive for “snag free installations”, we unfortunately missed our zero target (by one), however next time we will not forget “the missing screw cap”!   Keith Hutton Project Director, Carillion plc.  “A quality product delivered to programme.  Customer focused, easy to work with.  We would have no hesitation in working together with Mailbox again

The Main John Radcliffe Hospital has enjoyed the benefits of Mailbox’s HTM71 system, for many years. The Procurement and Supplies Operation Team, recognised the direct and indirect savings that the system afforded and considered it essential, within the new build, to standardise and integrate the additional areas, within the current Supplies “top up” procedure, that is running both efficiently and effectively. Andy Lyne, Head of Operational Procurement, Oxford Radcliffe Hospitals NHS Trust said "We have been delighted with the product quality, service levels and response times provided by Medstor over the last five years.
Their installations have proven excellent value for money and contributed significantly towards our provision of a first class Materials Management service to all our users
."

Mailbox are also delighted, that once again Domino Equipping   Solutions (acting on behalf of the Trust)  have also taken delivery and installation of both their HTM71 system and Metro racking systems for some consumable and CSSD store rooms within the new facility. “Mailbox and Domino Equipping Solutions worked hard together to ensure that the products arrived in a timely manner” Jane Cronin, Domino Equipping Solutions
